Gov. Wolf Calls for Non-discrimination in Annual Budget Address

In his first annual budget address Governor Tom Wolf laid out his plans for his upcoming financial plan for the state. During his remarks before a joint session of the State Senate and House of Representatives, Gov. Wolf made a call for employment non-discrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation.

Gov. Wolf said: “The companies and countries that are thriving in today’s global economy are those that are committed to diversity, inclusion, and fairness. All Pennsylvania’s families deserve those same opportunities, no matter what their race, sexual orientation, where they started life, or who they are.”

HB 300 and SB 300 are bills that would provide non-discrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in employment, housing, and public accommodations, but have yet to be reintroduced this session.

Gov. Wolf did not mention gender identity or expression in his address.
