Seven Pennsylvanians Named in the Out 100 for 2018

Out Magazine has released the ‘Out 100’ since 1994, featuring individuals who the publication considers having made compelling contributions to society as out LGBTQ people.

Every year, we highlight the Pennsylvanians who were selected.

For 2018, seven Pennsylvanians have been named to the Out 100 list for 2018:

Billy Porter, Actor, Out 100 Performance of the Year (From Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University Alum)
Wanda Sykes, Comedian and Actress (Lives in Media)
Aquaria, Drag Superstar and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 Winner (From West Chester)
Adam Rippon, Olympian and Figure Skater (From Clarks Summit)
Abbi Jacobson, Actor, Writer, and Illustrator (From Wayne)
Amber Hikes, Community Organizer and Director of the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of LGBT Affairs (From Philadelphia)
Peppermint, Drag Queen and Actress (From Harrisburg)

Of this year’s honorees, only Amber Hikes currently lives full time in Pennsylvania. Billy Porter, Aquaria, Abbi Jacobson, and Peppermint all live now in New York City, while Adam Rippon now resides in Los Angeles.

Originally from Virginia, Wanda Sykes has lived in Media with her wife and children part time for the past ten years, splitting her residence between Los Angeles. The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote about her voting last week in Media, so we think by now we can celebrate her Pennsylvania side.

Past honorees from Pennsylvania in recent years include Alison Bechdel, Lee Daniels, Edie Windsor, Jonathan Groff, Benj Pasek, and Evan Wolfson.
